Sorry to be a pest, but today I have a vacation day so have some time to deal with this.
After my earlier flurry of questions it looked like the majority of my issues were solved by enabling the android options in settings. I enabled all of them. Had some issues with the mapping app not giving voice instructions so I installed a text to speech program- on an internet forum this was recommended to get voice directions working with the mapping app OSMAnd. That still didn't resolve the issue so I tried powering off the phone and powering it back on. Now none of the FDroid apps will launch, including FDroid itself. I doubt this phone was intended to be this difficult to use. Anyone have any ideas why the apps that I installed using FDroid store won't launch? Their icons are still there on the screen.
