FLX1 and our Zero-Data Policy
Recent developments have sparked important conversations about smartphone privacy. In February 2025, Apple announced it would disable its Advanced Data Protection feature for iPhone users in the UK due to government demands for access to encrypted iCloud data, as reported by The Guardian. The FBI has also expressed interest in gaining “lawful access” to encrypted iPhone data, according to Forbes, raising questions about data security worldwide. We respect Apple’s efforts to prioritize privacy, but these challenges highlight the value of user control over personal data.
That’s where the FuriPhone FLX1 shines. Built on FuriOS, our Debian-based, open-source system, the FLX1 offers unmatched privacy with zero compromises. Here’s why it’s the perfect choice right now:
- No Telemetry, No Cloud Sync, Nothing: Unlike many devices, the FLX1 doesn’t send any telemetry, enforce cloud backups, or collect data of any kind. There’s simply no data for us—or anyone else—to give up on you. You’re in full control, with local storage and customizable security settings.
- Open-Source Transparency: FuriOS’s open-source nature ensures transparency and community oversight, letting you verify there are no hidden backdoors or trackers. It’s a phone you can trust, built for privacy enthusiasts and everyday users alike.
- Plausible Deniability: Collecting user data is a liability for FuriLabs and a liability for you. We don’t gather any information from our users (not even “anonymous statistics”) because that’s a perfect guarantee we will never be able to sell your data.
- Cost and Time Savings: Capturing, sending, storing and retrieving user data requires a team to manage. This team costs a lot of money and the storage and infrastructure costs easily scale into the millions. By not capturing all this data FuriLabs saves a huge amount of time and money. This allows us to focus on making FuriOS and the FLX1 even better!
In conversation with our CEO, @fakeshell he commented:
It is really frustrating to see these privacy rollbacks happening. This is exactly why we built the FLX1 differently from the ground up. We didn’t want to be put in such a position. By not collecting data in the first place, we sidestep the whole issue. What’s on your phone stays on your phone, period. It’s not about being anti-government or anti-anything really—it’s just about giving people back control over their own information. That shouldn’t be revolutionary in 2025, but here we are!
One of our first customers @hman14 had this to say about his journey from iPhone to FuriPhone.
I bought this phone because I care about my data and personal privacy. I didn’t realize that such a phone would radically alter my relationship to my phone: they could have just called it a “myPhone” because the phone (not to mention your data) belong to YOU. It feels like having something unique and that is YOURS in your pocket, which is an experience that I didn’t even realize was possible until getting it. You can also tell that the development team has made this a labor of LOVE. It is always a pleasure being able to talk to them about the phone and feel like you’re helping to develop a piece of linux history. (The first fully functional linux phone!)
If you’re rethinking your phone’s privacy in light of these developments, the FLX1 is here to help. Buy now from the furilabs shop, read our extensive blog to learn more and join our vibrant community to see how FLX1 owners are enjoying a secure, open-source experience. With the FLX1, you’re not just buying a phone—you’re securing your peace of mind!

This is not from now, this is already for a long time. Services like “Find my iPhone”, iCloud are already compromised. If you setup a vpn not all data is going through the vpn tunnel and this is on purpose. Even a few years ago there was some issue that Siri was listening to conversations. Big brands sell phones to get a lot of information about you and governments know this too.

I’ve never used an Apple device but unfortunately this is the world we live in now. Every big tech company is now openly exploiting the customer and insidious practices are also being deployed by governments previously considered more trust worthy. Only YOU can take back control of your privacy. Kick these companies into touch and send a message, regain independence. With the FLX1 I’m now completely Google free and still have access to the few Android apps I need. On top of that the phone is a joy to use 🙂
