Good news is that I successfully installed WhatsApp via the Aurora app store. Bad news is that I am not able to switch keyboards between English and Russian. (I spend much of my life in Central Asia.) I am able to switch between languages in a terminal session with no difficulty. In WhatsApp I have enabled both languages, but there is no switch on the default Wayland keyboard and no way, apparently, to switch to the Google gboard keyboard. The usual keyboard shortcuts that work in the terminal do not have any effect in WhatsApp. Has anyone else run into this problem and found a way around it?

A simple reboot solved the problem. After a reboot, the usual gboard keyboard with language switching was in place.
