i know furilabs has a github repo for issue tracking, but i can't use github. so where am i supposed to file a bug?
i can't use my micro sd card because it mounts only with root permissions required. i can't create a folder, or move files, just read the micro sd card, and each write requires authentication which means gui interactions fail or are constantly harassing the user for authentication over and over again.
kali on the pinephone pro mounts it read/write and it appears under devices, as expected. can furilabs make it work like that?
this seems like such a major issue that should have a really easy fix for whoever knows how it's supposed to work. and it needs to get fixed upstream. this is not a matter of user customization preference.
where can i report an issue or be part of the community without agreeing to githib, matrix, telegram, or mastodon's terms of service?
i do not agree with those companies' terms of service, so i do not have access to those networks.
I think this forum is probably it for reporting bugs, although you could also try the Telegram/Matrix channel.
I had the SD card problem when I tried formatting it as ext4, but then I reformatted it as FAT and it works OK. Mind you, I'm trying to use this inside a LUKS partition, so it's not quite the same. I don't have it mounting automatically, to mount I need to open the card in Nautilus, enter the LUKS password, then the phone password. That's not my long-term solution, since FAT can't handle some of the filenames I want to store.
@matthewexon i dont know how to get telegram working. i searched for it in fdroid but there was only telefork, which didnt work. idk what matrix is. i suspect telegram wont work. the last time i checked telegram discriminates against me and wont let me sign up, just like github.
this is just a forum, like for users to help users. the issue-tracker repo on github appears to be the only place to submit an issue, but github discriminates against me and wont let me sign up.
Even if there was a bug tracker, it's a small team, and there's not really the capacity to work on bugs. The vast majority of the issues are in a mess of upstream projects, you'd just get told to open an upstream bug report. Open source has always been frustrating like this, for decades.
Matrix is basically just yet another group chat app. You should be able to sign up for an account on the web at https://app.element.io/#/welcome. Once you have an account, search for #FuriLabs:matrix.org to join the group. Matrix support is built into the Chat app, if you go to Preferences you can Add New Account. The Matrix and Telegram groups are bridged, so it's all the same discussion whether you come via Matrix or Telegram. But it's the same thing as this forum, mostly users helping other users. It's just perhaps slightly more active.
@matthewexon Matrix is supported in Chat App? Bruh and here I am using the Fractal flatpak (it's actually pretty good) and fussing about notifications..
If the SD card was formatted as ext4, then it probably worked on your Pinephone because the Pinephone "owns" the filesystem, try to use the Disks app on the FLX to run the "Take Ownership" option on your SD card (I would suggest the "Recursively" option, but please only do that if either you don't have any files on the SD card or don't care about them potentially having improper or weird permissions. This method usually fixes ext4 and btrfs formatted SD cards for me.
EDIT: turns out comments don't have markdown - fixed formatting
@matthew didnt work for me, and when i tried to uninstall it, it left a remnant on my main home apps view called "fork cient" and i dont know how to get rid of it. ha
