The assistant button is really powerful. The settings provide some ideas in "Predefined actions". How can I use a "User-defined action" like the name of a script in my PATH? An extension in the GUI would be cool, but a possibility on a lower level (e.g. configuration file or similar) could be enough.

Hi Sven, thanks for your question.

You can create the following files and make them executable:

~/.config/assistant-button/long_press
~/.config/assistant-button/short_press
~/.config/assistant-button/double_press

If found, the assistant button will execute them, bypassing any action that has been defined in the UI.

I eventually would like to build an app that allows you to graphically define small/simple workflows, similar to Apple's Shortcuts. That's probably not going to be done this year though, as unfortunately my ambitions preclude me from building something quick. 🙂
