I am on Koodo here in Canada. I tried putting the sim card in Sim1 and it detects it but has an exclamation point over the icon. I tried manually setting the APN to the same name and APN as I have on Android and then restarting the phone but still won't call or work with mobile data. I tried putting it in Sim2 but it wasn't even detected there.

@publiclewdness I use rogers as my main sim, and freedom mobile on my second dev device. previously i used fido and that one worked fine too. you shouldn't need to set any APN, everything is completely automated. slot 2 is currently disabled since phosh and the gnome stack does not support it properly yet. which region are you in? i have tested it in ontario and quebec.

I'm in Ontario. The default APN created is just called "Inernet" and uses sp.mb.com. The modem details say Network Type is unknown, signal strength is 0%, network status is searching. The SIM card I have through Koodo works on my Pinephone CE, Librem 5, and Pixel 7a so I know it has no issues itself.

@publiclewdness do you by any chance have access to any other sim such as rogers or anything from their network? just to rule out the hardware fault. if they work then i can get a koodoo sim and look into why it doesn't work.

unfortunately there is not a whole lot we can do. seems like the issue is the same one witnessed with AT&T and verizon.

A quick search on their forum shows:
https://www.reddit.com/r/telus/comments/ysdxh0/american_model_samsung_and_volte/
and putting in one of our IMEI numbers on their website gives me:
Your phone is not compatible.
This phone will not work on the TELUS VoLTE network

Now i am not sure if this can also affect mobile data or not, but even if it doesn't, it won't last long if they are doing whitelisting since 3G networks will be shutting down soon.

is TELUS really doing the same thing verizon is doing in the US? if so, thats just disgusting.

Thanks for checking that out. I looked into Rogers plans and I can get pretty much the exact same plan i'm on for the exact same price. I can't just leave Koodo yet as I will owe them $408 on my Pixel 7a. I will probably wait until tax refund time and pay off Koodo then and switch to Rogers. Gives me time to get my FLX1 ready anyway as I am still installing apps and I have a case ordered then need a screen protector.

I got to try a Rogers sim earlier today. It worked right away without any issues. So my Koodo sim works in other phones and Rogers sim works in this phone. Looks like some incompatibility so far. Good news is I love the phone enough that when I can leave Koodo I would be willing to do so if this issue isn't resolved by then.

Sorry if I'm reviving an old thread.

I received my FLX1s last week. Over the weekend I passed the sim card from my old phone to the FLX1s. The sim is from Lucky Mobile (a Bell MVNO). For one hour or two, I could place and receive phone calls (and I assume SMS were working, though I never tested). Mobile internet never work. The mobile network icon at the top left showed something like 2.5 or 3.5 on top of the signal bars. After those 2 hours, phone calls stopped working and the signal strength bars have an exclamation bar on top. If I put the sim card back in my old phone everything is working (phone calls, SMSs and mobile internet). I checked in Lucky Mobile's website and it seems the EMEI of the FLX1s should be OK. Does anyone have any experience with the FLX1s and the Bell network (Bell or its MVNOs)? I read here that Rogers and its MVNOs (Fido and I hope Chatr) are fine and also is Freedom Mobile. Koodo seems to be a no, no; but I haven't heard anything from Bell.

Thanks.
