Secret SMS Triggers and Real-World Use Cases
From app settings you can setup "Trusted Contact" and give them a TOTP key and secret phrase which can trigger some cool and usefull actions. The actions happens locally in our Telephony app and are passed trough as plain SMS so you can set literally anyone as Trusted Contact. They need only TOTP app to ket the TOTP keys and device which supports SMS. Coming in 14.1.0.
"Find my Telephony"
The classic "where did I leave it" panic, solved. Couch cushions, the back of a taxi, a friend's house, the office. Send one SMS command (with TOTP key and secret passphrase) to your own number from any phone in your trusted list and Telephony replies with an Open Street Maps link that shows exactly where the device is. Tap it and see the location pin instantly, no app install needed on the borrowing phone, no account login, no web dashboard. It works even if the phone is on silent, so the days of calling your own ringer in frustration are over.
Add family members to your trusted contact list and location sharing becomes a two-way safety net. If your partner is driving home late or your teenager's bus is delayed, you can simply check their location and via versa. The link opens in any browser, so grandparents and less tech-savvy relatives can use it too. Because everything runs over plain SMS, it works when mobile data is patchy, batteries are low which might be exactly when you need it most.
"Trusted Callback"
Let's say you are worried about your kid or partner and location might not be enough information. With one SMS command (including TOTP key and secret passphrase) you can receive call automatically from their phone - then just answer to it and listen what is happening around the phone.
"SMS Relay"
You might have situation where you need to send SMS but you don't want to give your own phone number to protect your privacy. You can allow Trusted Contact to send SMS trough your phone to third contact. Basically you will send one SMS command (including TOTP key and secret passphrase) which includes the forwarded message and target phonenumber and Telephony will forward it. Target phonenumber will see only the number who forwarded the message.
"SMS tmate"
Let's say you are the tech admin in your family and you all have FuriPhones. Your partner needs help with the phone. With one SMS command (including TOTP key and secret passphrase) you can open tmate connection to your partners phone and boom you are in no matter where you two are located. There are various methods where you can use it. It will by default use our own tmate server.
"Lock Device"
Your phone gets stolen. With one SMS command (including TOTP key and secret passphrase) you can change the SIM pin code, enable the PIN lock and shutdown the phone.
